2007; The Birth of Rock - A journey through the history of rock music. This episode tells the story of the rock revolution of the 1960s, as seen through the life and music of Jimi Hendrix. Rock music today is in its healthiest state since the 1970s. Fans are attending more gigs and more festivals than ever before and the guitar is definitely back as the weapon of choice. The genre's greatest performers, writers and producers tell us how rock emerged, grew, and gave voice to each new generation that embraced it. The focus in this episode is on 1966, when a young American guitarist called Jimi Hendrix arrives in Britain to find a music scene on the brink of major change. Artists like The Beatles, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones and The Who are all eager to move in new directions, but it's Hendrix who has the musical pedigree and the vision to ignite the revolution that will deliver to the world a new, hard-edged music of attitude - rock.

White Light, White Heat: Art Rock - A journey through the history of rock music. Rock enters its second age to a psychedelic soundtrack and freaky lightshow. This episode explores how rock became synonymous with theatricality and moved on from boy meets girl to boy meets ideas and beyond. Featuring a wealth of rare performance footage of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and Roxy Music.

Blank Generation: Punk Rock - A journey through the history of rock music. It's 1975, and rock gets shock treatment on both sides of the Atlantic with the advent of punk. From New York came punk poets like Patti Smith and Richard Hell, and the stripped-back sound of the Ramones. From London came the sneer and swagger of the Sex Pistols, the political punk of the Clash and the outrageous all-girl band Slits. Punk took rock back to basics as young musicians took control to create a new kind of music with passion and fury.

Never Say Die: Heavy Metal - A journey through the history of rock music. Heavy metal emerged in the 1960s from Birmingham, with Black Sabbath as its undisputed godfathers, and went on to conquer the world. This programme shows it all began with an industrial accident in a sheet metal factory, which changed the way one key guitarist played and with it the sound of rock. Following the highs and lows of the music, we meet its greatest artists, including Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and, of course, Black Sabbath.

We Are The Champions: Stadium Rock - A journey through the history of rock music, continuing with the story of stadium rock. For some artists, size really did matter. In the early 1970s, rock moved out of the festivals and clubs and into the stadiums. We Are The Champions shows how the power and volume of Led Zeppelin and the showmanship of Queen 's Freddie Mercury were both perfectly designed for the stadium and how it was only when playing to audiences of tens of thousands that their music came into its own.

Left of the Dial: US Alternative Rock - The rock marathon continues with the story of the contrasting fates of two of America's biggest, most authentic bands: Nirvana and REM and the hidden links between them that almost saved the life of troubled Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain. In 1991, Nirvana's Nevermind album launched the 'grunge' explosion that put the Seattle music scene on the map and gave a voice to the alienated youth pushed to one side by the Reagan revolution. But Cobain was a reluctant idol who struggled to cope with his new status and his band's growing mainstream appeal. Nirvana had their roots in the underground and college music scene pioneered by bands like REM and Pixies and this programme tells how REM also ended up gravitating towards Seattle, where a friendship developed between lead singer Michael Stipe and Cobain. In the end it was not enough to save Cobain, who killed himself in 1994, but his triumph and tragedy continues to cast a powerful shadow over the whole of rock.

What the World is Waiting For: Indie Rock - The journey through the history of rock music climaxes with a focus on British indie music. Although once associated with social misfits seeking refuge from the bright processed pop then dominating the charts, The Smiths' first Top of the Pops appearance in 1983 paved the way for the hugely influential Madchester music scene. However, it was the iconoclastic influence of Suede and intense media attention in the Blur v Oasis chart battles in the nineties that brought Britpop to a wider audience. Revealing interviews and rarely seen archive offers an insight into the story which ends with the recent reinvention of Indie by bands like The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand and The Arctic Monkeys.

Programme charting the tempestuous history of one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. In the early seventies, Deep Purple could claim to be the biggest band in the world in terms of record sales and the size of their live audiences. Yet tensions between the five members were never far from the surface and the history of the band is littered with splits. One of the many stories tells of the events which led to the singer Ian Gillan leaving Deep Purple in 1973, an event which keyboard player Jon Lord describes as 'the biggest shame in rock 'n' roll'. Members of Deep Purple and offshoots such as Rainbow, Whitesnake and Gillan describe with remarkable frankness the highs and lows of three decades of life in the music business.

he focus of the film is Syd Barrett, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the early Pink Floyd, who created their unique psychedelic sound and most of the band's early songs, including the singles "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play" and much of their first album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Syd Barrett's name passed into rock folklore when he was kicked out of Pink Floyd in 1968 and, after two extraordinary but erratic solo albums, disappeared from music altogether amid rumours of a drug-induced breakdown. The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story has contributions from Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley (who played on Syd Barrett's two solo albums The Madcap Laughs and Barrett as well as Syd's final London concert on 6 June 1970 with David Gilmour, when Barrett abruptly left the stage after playing only four numbers), bassist Jack Monck who played at Syd's last ever public concert in 1972 at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, producer Joe Boyd who produced Arnold Layne, photographer Mick Rock who photographed Barrett for The Madcap Laughs cover, and artist Duggie Fields who shared an apartment in London's Earls Court with Barrett in 1968 and witnessed his changing mental state at close hand. According to his sister, Barrett watched the documentary when it was broadcast on the BBC. He apparently found it "too loud", although he did enjoy seeing Mike Leonard, who he referred to as his "teacher". He also enjoyed hearing "See Emily Play" again.

In 2007 the BRAVO! channel, in conjunction with Leda Serene Films aired this 1/2 hour documentary on the life of award-winning Trinidadian born jazz trumpet player BROWNMAN ALI. It is an insightful and in-depth look at one of the most acclaimed jazz artists in the nation, diving deeply into his personal history, growing up in a racial charged environment, his time in New York City with Randy Brecker & clearly illustrating why he is now widely considered a vanguard for the evolution of jazz in Canada. EDITOR'S NOTE: This documentary was filmed in 2006 just *before* he was asked to join the legendary GURU's JAZZMATAZZ, replacing Donald Byrd in that seminal jazz-hip-hop group, and is thus a fascinating look at his pre-Jazzmatazz career. -- Brownman.com for more on this artist -- Posted with permission, with all rights reserved by Brownman Music Inc, Leda Serene Films & BRAVO!

The plot follows Blake, an alienated and disenchanted rock star who is escaping his turbulent life by isolating himself at his mansion. He eludes a private detective looking for him and ignores his ex-wife's demands that he should come home. Blake spends much of the film walking around, muttering to himself. He sometimes wears a dress and plays music. At one point, he goes out to a seedy rock club, then returns home, where he dies, presumably by suicide. His friends and associates flee to avoid suspicion. Much like the real-life Kurt Cobain case, the ending is left ambiguous. A mysterious figure in red can be seen wandering around the greenhouse Blake dies in before and after he dies.
